You can turn the instructions tab off if you know how things work, but be aware that some devices have no hardware menu button, which would prohibit to enable the tab again using the software button. With the instructions tab disabled, the application will start with the spotter tab instead for an even faster aircraft identification. Open the menu with your phone's menu button and tap instructions on/off to turn it off / on, or use the software button in the instructions tab.

The spotter tab

The spotter tab is where you find a live view for the planes flying overhead. This is the augmented reality feature. For identified aircrafts you will find a label which tells you the callsign and the distance between you and the plane. In case the airline is one of the 200 major ones, the airline logo is also shown for easier identification. Point your phone to the aircraft and try to get it's label right in the middle of the screen where the crosshair is. When the color of the target turns from orange to green and a box snaps to it, then the target is locked. While locked, tap anywhere on the screen and the app will show you all details about that aircraft.

At the bottom of the screen you will find your current viewing direction in azimuth (nort, east, ...) and elevation (forward angle against the horizon). If you are in compass mode then there is also a compass arrow which points into the direction of the aircraft you wanted to find (see below on how to activate). Follow the arrow by moving your phone in its direction and it will guide you directly to the target. This feature is only available if you purchased the remove ads and activate compass feature or in the professional versions.

The info tab

In this tab you will find all the interesting details about the aircrafts flying at your location. Change target by using the selector at the top. If you choose a new target for the first time, a photo of the aircraft is requested from airliners.net. It may take a while for the photos to show up when loaded in background. For a detailed explanation of what means what in the details presented, we refer you to read detail specifications

If you started Radar Spotter from the Radar Stick application, Radar Stick is still running in the background and feeding data directly into Radar Spotter. Targets received by Radar Stick are marked with a special logo, indicating this is live data caught by your receiver.
You may locate any of the targets by tapping the compass button, which opens up the spotter tab and shows a little compass cursor which guides you to find the target (see explanations above). Next is the maps button, which opens up a radar maps application (if installed) of Radarbox24. The sync-time button is a useful feature if your clock is not synchronous with the server's clock that sends the position of all targets to your device (this should not happen when your phone is synchronized). When tapping the button, a slider appears on the right side of it. Drag the plane to adjust your local time (Changed time does not change the devices clock however!). If most targets of the spotter tab are shown at the real world contrails instead of where the plane is, then your device's clock is behind in time. Drag the plane slider to the right to adjust. If labels are shown in front of most planes, drag to the left. If labels are all too much left or right, then your device's compass needs calibration. You can easily determine that by using the augmented position of the sun. Both the compass and the sync button are only available if you purchased the remove ads and activate compass feature. If you did not buy the feature, an ad banner will be shown instead.

Aircraft photo gallery

If you purchased this feature using the Upgrade button in the instructions tab, tapping on an aircraft image a gallery opens up. The gallery will load all available aircraft images one after another. You can swipe the gallery left and right to see the photos. If you press the back button of your device or if you tap the top or bottom of the screen the gallery will disappear.
